Already Dems are focusing in a so-called “State investigation” into whether Sarah Palin pressured a Public Safety Commissioner with oversight of Alaska State Troopers to fire her former brother-in-law who is a state trooper. The state trooper had gone through a nasty divorce with Palin’s younger sister.
The Palin’s say they put no pressure on the commissioner to hire or fire anyone. They merely informed the commissioner of a death threat against the governor’s sister made by her ex-husband.
Trust me, folks. This story has no legs. If this is the best “scandal” the Dems can come up with in an attempt to discredit Sarah Palin, wait until the McCain campaign unleashes the skeletons in Obama and Biden’s closets.
There is a fairly balanced media story about this whole thing here.
The report that came out last night on Palin is very bad in an already abd time for the McCain/Palin campaign. A bipartisan group investigated and reported that Palin overstepped her bounds of power as a governor. Of course Palin wants a different groups to investigate the issue, a group of folks that she appointed, I am sure they are going to be nonpartisan. If there is anytime for the christians to vote third party it is NOW.
Well, it looks like the Dems have more than just this investigation to nail Palin on. This “conservative” billed the residence of Alaska for staying in her own home. Here is the story, I am sure those who like Palin will write it off as the “left wing” Washington Post but all this info is publicly available.

Corruption and greed are American Hallmarks. We like to deride “Banana Republics” as being corrupt, but what we fail to realize is our government and corporate leaders are just as corrupt, they just have better marketing.
Who cares who McCain chose? She’ll do what she’s told, just like McCain did when he was threatening to filibuster the anti-torture bill. That was when I lost all respect for him as a leader.
Obama caved on the FISA Legislation, so I can no longer support him either. They called asking for money, and I told them to go screw.
If our politicians were really worried about their constituents votes, they’d be more responsive to our concerns. The fact of the matter is, that elections are bought first, and won second. You can’t get a seat at the table without selling your soul to special interest groups, so that’s always first priority. Once you have cash, you can then buy the marketing team necessary, to cover all your graft, with a shiny new image of wholesomeness.
Palin was no more than a marketing stunt. At least Biden has something to offer. Palin is to naive to know shit from shine-ola. She’ll be a perfect puppet for the Republican Party, just like McCain is.
Obama talks about change, but the level of corruption in Washington is so great, he’ll be lucky if he can change his underwear by the time they are through with him.

I’ll take an Alaskan over a Marxist any day. Talk about bigotry!
Hey Paul. I don’t know why conservatives are so excited about her. Please tell me. All I see is someone from a small state that has no stance on real issues. I fear if she becomes commander in chief in the event of a presidential tragedy she will either continue the failed policies of Bush Jr. or come up with her own voodoo policies which could mean a not safer America. I’d rather take a chance on Obama than someone who is the furthest away from any real issues as anyone can get. Really the only last Republican to have a not so bad foreign policy was George H.W. Bush. And this lady is pro drilling, I love this earth and I believe polar bears are a part of God’s beauty but she has no right to want to take them off the endangered species list when they are starving EVERYDAY. She is a disgrace to the Republican Party!! McCain (The Maverick) has never gone any lower with his judgment, I had hope in him, but not any more. Palin is a sick politician, I’m an American and I care about the real issues. I’m not a one issue voter like you and your neo-cons are. The great party of Lincoln is ruined because of you neo-cons, I wouldn’t be surprised that World War III will happen during a McCain or another neo-con administration because you people don’t think about what the world thinks. It all has to be about Faith, well it may be but neo-con policy is not very god-like. And no I’m not atheist or liberal, just an American.
Seriously an Alaskan, w/o experience McCain?? you just lost my vote.
“Hell hath no fury like that of a lapsed Republican.” That’s a great line, Arthur. I guess it’s the old baby & bath-water syndrome!
lookilu,
Yeah, a Biden was chosen because he and Obama were best buddies in the few months that Obama was in the Senate. Biden was chosen because he is an old, white guy who has been in the Senate since he was 29. He was intensely critical of Obama when they ran against each other, but he fit a profile. Every VP pick is a pragmatic decision. Palin was scritinized up and down before she was picked. Better to pick someone who makes sense than to pick your best buddy. That is why Lieberman wasn’t the choice even though he and McCain know each other well. get your head out of the sand for a second a look around.
McCain knows a lot more deeply what going to war means than anyone on this blog, and Sarah Palin’s son ships out to Iraq in a week or so. If you thinnk they are “salivating” to go to war, it is only because you are eating up the propaganda being spoon fed to you by the radical left.
The only way I can account for McCain only meeting her once is that the decision is not his. It is his advisors and his base, I don’t think the fact that he met her only once is a big deal. I do think the her extreme lack of experiance is going to hurt her greatly. I think the debates are going to be very bad for the republicans Obama v McCain and Biden v Palin. I have to say looking at her Bio on wikipedia she looks very appealing, I can respect anyone who fights corruption in their own party.
MCAIN MET HER ONCE. THEN OFFERED HER THE JOB AT THE SECOND METTING. WHERE’S THE DEPTH IN THIS DECISION MAKING.
I’m scared…if he wins that’s how irresponsibly we’d end up in the next set of wars he’s salavating over to start….did I say …scared…I mean terrified for him to win!
Jake,
Ease off on the kool-aid there sparky.
“This is the Republican party I know. This is who I used to be and still struggle not to fall into. This is who Jesus came to save his people from.”
Huh, Jesus came 2000 years ago after thousands of years of prophecy to save His people from the Republican party? Who knew! See, I think that Jesus came to save His people from themselves, from their sins and self-reliance. But it makes more sense for Him to die on a cross to save people from Karl Rove.
“I believe that Paul is doing the right thing by ignoring me if that is indeed what he is doing.”
I think what he is doing is following Scripture:
Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself.
(Prov 26:4)
Hell hath no fury like that of a lapsed Republican.
“It is a powerful wave of stupid you ride upon.”
That is quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve read all week.
Nice job showing your Christian compassion.
That should be withOUT ad hominem attacks. There goes that dysfunctional typing again!
Jake,
Paul is one of my best friends in the world and I don’t know you at all. So it is from this vantage point that I am making this comment.
I have been a witness to Paul’s spiritual journey for more than 35 years and for you to make a snap judgement on his love of Jesus Christ is way off base, sir! For Paul to even allow your comments is a testimony to the fact that he is willing to listen to all sides.
One reason I enjoy this blog so much is because we usually can discuss our differences with ad hominem attacks. I would ask that in the future, please stick to the issue at hand and keep the derogatory comments off the blog. Keep it to the issues and you are more than welcome to the rest of us.
Nice observation “Jeff” I had a Hmmm for exactly the same thing…*: )
Jake,
Far be it from me to defend Paul, and like I said you and I will likely agree on a number of fronts, I also disagree with Paul on many fronts. That said, You make the claim that Paul does not love Jesus then you say “Now don’t tell me Paul loves Jesus. The only two who can answer that with authority is Paul and Jesus” Contradictory statements buddy.
Paul, I too am excited about the Presidential election now that the teams have been declared. Every Christian ought to be an excellent citizen. For us as Americans that means that we should participate in the process, including getting out and vote. Many can go further and campaign or donate. We can do so with civility as well no matter which party we support. You have an excellent blog. Thanks for your work.
Jeff,
I believe that Paul is doing the right thing by ignoring me if that is indeed what he is doing. Maybe saying that Paul does not love Jesus is overboard. Maybe it is spot on describing the human condition.
Maybe this should be the question. Can such arrogance exist in a heart truly following Christ? I speak to previous articles and how Paul answers comments. You may be able to tell that I am kindred spirit lashing out in extremes, taunts, and binary answers. It is my own struggle and one tempered by a good deal of exquisite humility, some forced on me. Humility is something I don’t see much of here.
Now don’t tell me Paul loves Jesus. The only two who can answer that with authority is Paul and Jesus.
Jake,
I think I would lean towards you in the assessment of the right wing but let’s try not to look into what we can’t know. You might think that Paul is misguided in his positions, but to claim that he doesn’t love Jesus is too much. It is the reason that folks like b/Bo and myself visit and disagree with Paul. Maybe someday we can plant that seed that republicanism is not more christian than all the other ism’s that have existed throughout history. I don’t know Paul personally even though we met once but we do have a mutual friend, Paul loves Jesus.
I don’t know if it your giddiness with the pick for VP but you are in a good mood. I have been called out in the past saying much less……;-)
When I initially heard the pick I was amazed at Rove’s manuvering. The more I think, her lack of experiance puts Obama’s as a none issue. I have to say that I predict McCain’s Gaffes and her lack of experiance are going to add up to disaster. Well see, I am not a political stratagist so what do I know…..
It is not McCain that is under my skin, it is the people who incorrectly think that the Republican party is the correct moral choice.
Way to not answer my call, btw. Throw rhetoric at a small detail instead of answering the accusation. Are you running for office? My claim is you don’t love Jesus. I claim you actively work against what he wants for His kingdom for the purpose of your own agenda and self promotion.
Yes, we are all sinners, but is completely irresponsible to squander His Grace and follow the lust of our own heart counting on His strength to pull us out. While that is probably the path we all follow, it is a spit in the eye to do it brazenly.
McCain has really gotten under the skin of the libs!
Jake, I DID murder Jesus! It was my sin that held him on the cross. So thanks for reminding me that great sinners like me have a great Savior like Jesus!
I was looking for stories about the Palin ex-brother-in-law thing which brought me here. Personally I think Palin is a horrible pick because she is a nobody from nowhere who has done nothing important. She is a complete and total pander from a McCain who is overwhelmed and bumbling his way to a sure defeat. Or at least that would be the case if so many Americans had any reasonable sense of priority.
But that is not the real reason I am writing. You wanted an attack Paul, here it is. I have read some of your other articles to make sure this was not isolated. You don’t actually love Jesus. Not near as much as yourself.
You are a Pharisee telling people that if for one day everyone did not sin then the kingdom would come. Your frustration that others sin leads you claim that people who habitually sin should not even be treated with decency.
You are a Sadducee who, masked in the facade of religion, murdered Jesus because of his interference with their business interests.
This is the Republican party I know. This is who I used to be and still struggle not to fall into. This is who Jesus came to save his people from. This is what Joel Hunter wanted to move the Christian Coalition away from before they had him resign. It is a powerful wave of stupid you ride upon. It is fast and exciting and terribly destructive.
My, my. The libs who post here really are getting testy now, aren’t they? I’m telling you, the liberal establishment is imploding and comments like “hoosier’s” give ample evidence of that.
Attack me? LOL! What else you got, hoosier?
MSNBC is dogging her. This is funny.
AND, if they play this card, the Dems play into bashing women to a certain degree. Her sister was the victim of a death threat (read ‘domestic violence’). This should be good…
