Fox2 Detroit aired a “man on the street” report during its Friday, January 2 broadcast at 6:15 pm. Reporter Brad Edwards’ live report from the Dearborn City Hall on what he called “a peaceful protest” by local Palestinians of the Israeli air strikes in Gaza was PROPAGANDA for Hamas.
Edwards interviewed a woman who claims she has relatives “who are not Hamas but Palestinians,” who have been targeted by the Israeli Defense Forces. Her statements were not verified nor substantiated. To top it off, Edwards then tells the woman Barack Obama will soon be sworn in and that should give her hope!
Further, he opens his report by repeating casualty statistics given by the anti-Israeli speaker at the rally. Again, no verification and no opposing viewpoint presented. The viewers are left with the impression that the Israeli Defense Forces are intentionally targeting civilians.
Where is the evidence to support such radical and unsubstantiated claims? Where is the balance in reporting at Fox2 Detroit?
Ahhhh, just like I love America, and I am not anti-American when I say our government has had an awful foreign policy. Hats off to Jonathan and Yosef for speaking the truth.
Do you know why Palestinians hate Israel now? The Israeli govt. cut off medical resources to Gaza, so women and children are starving in the streets, unable to go into an adequate market place or hospital. What if you were that person, born there, and you had no choice but to fight he oppressors, would you. Hamas wants the oppressing of their people to stop. The Israeli Government reminds me of Hitler’s Germany, building ghettos and giving them poor resources to live off of. I am sick to also hear that Israel has violated all war laws by using phosphorus bombs which burn the skin off of people in a general area, whether they be fleeing or terrorists. That means that innocent women and children are dying because Israel doesn’t have the common sense to prevent a conflict. They are the reason why Hamas throws rockets at their settlements. Israel needs the UN and American Government to put them on trial for what they have done, you can call me Anti-Israel, “Marxist” or whatever but I support Israel when they have a good foreign policy.

Really? How many Israelis have been killed? Innocent women and children?? How many Israelis have no food, water, or electricity?? Humanitarian aid cannot even be provided because Israel has shown us that they will murder anyone. Glenn, I am not diagreeing with you that Hamas poses a threat to Israel but the blatent disregard for innocent human life shown by Israel is not in any way the right way to deal with the situation. They are murdering innocent people here. Israeli miliatary officials have acknowledged that a few hundred out of 15,000 Hamas fighters have been killed, so the majority dead are civilians. And to hear some of these horrific stories of the way Israel is murdering these people is heart breaking. I don’t know how anyone can support the actions Israel has taken in the past 18 days. It is sad to see that Israel does not value human life. One innocent life is bad enough but they are murdering by the hundreds. In the same breath that they are condeming terrorism they are terrorising the innocent people in Gaza, while accomplishing nothing. They are temporarily crippling Hamas. What is the long term effect? Totally going about this the wrong way.
Figures none of you bother to note that Hamas maintains its arms caches and fires its rockets from schools, hospitals and residential neighborhoods. So I guess Israel is wrong unless they just sit back and wait for another rocket to plummet into an apartment building?

Tisk, tisk, you are either not a Christian, or not an American because you obviously didn’t get the memo that we are supposed to back Israel no matter what, Civilian targets? Nonsense that is collateral damage, Palestinian civilians? No, terrorists. We have dehumanized anyone that we don’t agree with therefore we don’t feel guilt when we support the kind of actions that the poor little state of Israel is doing to those awful, evil, Islamic, Palestinian terrorists.
Let me be clear, both are wrong, violence is not the solution, but Israel actions against the civilian population is beyond evil and Christians should call it what it is, wrong. If you want to debate this look up white phosphorus and tell me it is OK for the Israeli government to shoot that stuff over Palestinian civilian population. It is illegal to use as a weapon under international law and not supposed to be used in war, Israel says “we are using it for lighting, not as a weapon” BULL. It is wrong, and my Christian brothers and sisters who listen to only “christian” sources are blinded to the truth and it bothers me to no end. I hesitate to use the term “christian” in front of sources because the noun of Christian loses its power when truth is not delivered from those many sources (from the wisdom of Rob Bell).
Which claims are radical and unsubstantiated? Did Israel not bomb a school with refugees killing innocent men, women, and children just yesterday? Suprisingly though, this is nothing new for Israel. They have a track record of killing the innocent. 1982: 17,500 dead in Israels invasion of Lebanon, most of them children and women. The 1,700 Palestinian civlians dead in the Sabra-Chatila massacre, 1996 massacre of 106 Lebanese refugees, the slaughter of the Marwahin refugees ordered from their homes by the Israeils then murdered, The 1,000 Lebanese dead in the 2006 bombardment…. Come on now, FOX2 news is not biased at all because if they were they would come out and say it: THE ISRAELIS ARE TERRORISTS. TERRORISTS WHO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE. TERRORISTS WHO KILL LITTLE CHILDREN AND WOMEN. They have no regard for the human life whatsoever and all of the TV broadcasts, not only FOX2 are biased. Biased by taking Israels side because America is on Israels side no matter what. Yes that is right, America supports terrorism.
There’s an error in the piece here…it’s referring to Brad Edwards as a reporter. I’m not one to believe that all news has a bias (I’m a newspaper reporter who doesn’t let his beliefs get into a story), but television news does tend to be all about sensationalism and being provacative.
Brad Edwards is a reporter who wants his name out there and wants to cause a stir. So it’s not surprising he slants his news. I’m an Obama supporter myself, but I would never tell a source that I was interviewing that things will get better because Obama’s being sworn in. As a reporter, you’re supposed to be above the story.
no news outlet is fair and balanced. the local news outlets write to the video they have. so, no video? no story. between that and the fact that tv reporters are lucky if they get 2 minutes for their package, we are left to view a very condensed, fluffy piece.

Surely this was a local FOX News broadcast…the locals just get down and mud wrestle with the other locals…the only rules…last man breathing wins!
The regular or “real” FOX News, I’m sure they are still fair and balanced…I just can’t understand what they are balanced about with all the shouting over each other.
In my regular end of the year TV News marathon… cramming all the bad stuff into one week so the rest of the year is uncontaminated…I fell woefully short…After watching one installment of Bill O’Reily…I made a New Years resolution to keep all 52 weeks News free and began right away…just to get off to a good start!
