Yosef,
It is because being a “true” Christian nowadays is to assume that you are a republican. Jesus never came to start an new religion and he certainly was not a partisan politician. For me I apply the Campolo principle, are you a liberal or conservative? Name the issue.
C’mon guys give him a break. You want some perfect guy that makes no mistakes. I am sick of your neo-con, liberal bashing, CFR hugging bias. I don’t understand why when someone that’s not on your side makes one mistake, it’s a big deal. We all make mistakes, not calling this much of a mistake. Besides who cares about what a seal says, it doesn’t help our financial crisis, or environmental disasters. Stop Bashing, and start talking more about issues that matter.
“Of course, we always “misunderestimated” Bush, didn’t we.”
I did NOT see that one coming.
I guess arrogance and intelligence will be the norm for the next 4 or 8 years instead of arrogance and incompetence like we have had the last 8. Of course, we always “misunderestimated” Bush, didn’t we.
WOW!! Did I sure stir the pot!
Like Mel Brooks said in the “Muppet Movie,” “If I can inflict a little pain during the day, I sleep better at night!”
Keep thinking, my brothers and sisters! That’s why God gave you a brain!
Right or left, who can stand?
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren
“I wouldn’t expect anything less from you than a Bush-bashing response. Thanks for not disappointing!”
I aim to please. :^)
Gee, this thread just took an uglier turn!!
I love it Greg. It did bring me to an interesting thought though. Would Obama’s pastor receive more attention if he were a) an America hating ranting lunatic, or b) a calvinist? Hmmmm…
The America Hating ranting lunatic said that God has damned America, BUT the Calvinist says God has rightly and justly damned most of the world. Evil Calvinists.
You should probably never do that again. You are a grown man.
Greg: LOL ROFL!!!!
Are you saying he’s a Calvinist because he is the President-“Elect?”
I think it’s very possible for both Bush and Obama to be very arrogant. In fact, I may be cynical, but I pretty much expect it from all politicians. The field draws type A personalities, and arrogance is very often a trait associated with that.
I agree with skeptimal that Bush has been the picture of arrogance and stubborness over the past few years. But, as much as I support Obama, there has always been an air of pretension about him, almost where he believes that this was his destiny and nothing was going to stop it.
Then again, maybe he’s just a Calvinist. (This is coming from a fellow Calvinist).
Skeptimal,
I wouldn’t expect anything less from you than a Bush-bashing response. Thanks for not disappointing!
“we now have a man who really believes he was born for the office rather than one who assumes office humbly.”
You’re talking about Bush here, right? You have to be, because it wouldn’t make sense for you to accuse Obama of arrogance after supporting the most arrogant president in American history for eight years.
I voted for Obama and I trust he’s the right man for the job at this time. However, I do have to admit that this is the first I’ve ever heard of a President-elect having his own seal and things like that. I don’t know if it’s a public relations campaign or hubris, but it’s just weird in my book.
Still, let’s remember that many of the people who decry Obama are the same people who still support George W. Bush, who has been the epitome of arrogance and stubbornness throughout the Iraq war, going so far as to even say that God told him to invade Iraq.
We only have about two weeks left of the Bush regime, which is fine, so I’m not going to get hung up on it. And I’ll call Obama on his hubris, if need be. Let’s just remember that arrogance exists on boths sides. As I’m sure Paul can attest, there’s never been a savior on Capitol hill.
My eyes have deceived me…”elect” is not there…Bush probably let him ride on his plane and he got to walk out behind the actual president, so he could practice walking down the stairs to the music…He’s not changing the song is he?
Hmmm…Actual President, that sounds catchy, maybe Bush needs a new seal…
Kevin,
Nobody here (but you) is suggesting the world is coming to an end; just that we now have a man who really believes he was born for the office rather than one who assumes office humbly.
The world is coming to an end!!!!! Wow people!
…those who walk in pride He is able to humble. (Dan 4:37c)
Increase the view adjustment on your computer to the largest that you can still see the letters, “elect” is there. Hmmm…is that even a possiblity is it “harvest time” yet? What kind of fruit to you see????
I can’t see the “elect” on the seal.
Either way though, this guy IS arrogant. Think of the dumb sign he has had on the podium at press conference, “Office of the President Elect”, um, Barry, there isn’t an “Office of the President Elect”.
But, the seal says “Elect” …Is he wearing the offical presidential coat, before it’s time? Where are the SS??
