We risk forgetting that the reason Jesse Jackson wished to castrate Barack Obama was because Jackson believes (present tense) that Obama talks down to black people. Obama’s full frontal assault on the intelligence of Justice Clarence Thomas at the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency is a case in point. Listen carefully in the following YouTube clip and you will hear Obama catch himself just before he accuses Thomas of not having the “experience” necessary (at the time of his nomination) to be a Supreme Court Justice. Realizing that he himself has less experience now than Clarence Thomas had at the time of his nomination, Obama quickly changes directions and makes Thomas’ intelligence the issue, when compared with the intelligence of, say, that white guy Antonin Scalia.

Consistent, Arthur, Like a rock…… š
Pixel, I will give you this. You are nothing if not predictable.
“(ooh Pixel, I quoted Fox News radio, I will now eagerly await the knee jerk dismissal of the report!)” no need, nuff said……
Ah, I found some info on the alleged spying. Andrea Mitchell is parrotting some leftist rumors to that effect, rumors that Rick Warren and the McCain campaign insist are completely bogus:
“During the televised forum broadcast from Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif., Warren told viewers that McCain would be in a ācone of silenceā during the questioning of Obama. Davis confirmed that āMcCain was in a motorcade to the event and then held in a green room with no broadcast feed.ā
āMitchell is repeating, uncritically, a completely unsubstantiated Obama campaign claim that John McCain somehow cheated,ā Davis wrote. āInstead of trying to substantiate this blatant falsehood in any way, Andrea Mitchell felt that she needed to repeat it on air to millions.ā
Meanwhile, Warren told FOX News Radio that the allegations that McCain heard Obamaās questions ahead of time were ātotal bogus.ā
āCone of silence is a silly term I used from Maxwell Smart,ā Warren said. āWe had him a green room in a totally different building. Somebody said there was a monitor in that room, yeah, but it was disconnected at the source. If heād tried to turn it on, all heād have gotten was fuzz, because it wasnāt even connected. So the Secret Service picked him up, brought him straight to that room, put him in that building. Somebody is systematically calling up all the media the media and trying to create, I dont know, I guess they didnāt like the format or whatever. ”
What this sounds like to me, and this is a lot more plausible than some crackpot leftist theory is that Obama looked really bad and since he is the anointed one, it must mean that McCain cheated. Someone is making a little “whine” out of sour grapes.
(ooh Pixel, I quoted Fox News radio, I will now eagerly await the knee jerk dismissal of the report!)
Can you give us aa single reputable source that will confirm McCain’s late arrival? I am not saying he didn’t get there late, but I have heard nothing about it. Even if McCain did arrive late, that doesn’t change the fact that Obama’s answers exhibited a singular lack of cogent thought. He ducked the question when he could and rambled on when he couldn’t. Others have commented that on many of the questions, it appeared as if Obama hadn’t given any thought to the topic before. McCain said he didn’t hear the questions asked of Obama, and while he answered some questions very quickly (because he clearly has established positions), others he paused and still gave a good answer even when it wasn’t one the crowd would like much (like stem cells)
I am glad you at least had the decency to not defend your grotesque attacks on McCain while a POW.
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that the delayed arrival was not deliberate, they had to have realized that the questioning of Obama had already started. They likely had means of hearing the questioning via Blackberry or cell telephone. Of course they would have to have people VERY loyal to McCain who were in the car to not blow the whistle.
This conspiracy theory of mine sounds pretty plausible. Conspiracies DO happen sometimes BTW.
Hmm… sounds like characters are being attacked. I’d say I’m “offended”, but in truth I’m not. š (tee hee)
The thing I did appreciate about the Saddleback Forum is that you actually got to hear what each candidate wanted to say about the questions rather than the typical Jerry Springer-like shoutdowns and distortions. That was very helpful for the little bit I saw. Can’t wait to see the rest (but I’ll have to).
BTW, this manufactured liberal/conservative dichotomy being argued about is beside the point; Jesus would be neither Republican nor Democrat, neither liberal nor conservative. He would be for the way things ought to be, regardless of how men divide their camps. That’s part of what ticked off the Herodian/Sadducee, Zealot, Pharisee, and Essene factions. But I doubt we’ll ever learn, because we’re just repeating the same mistakes and those same groups still exist in their essence. š
Pixel, ever consider that people are conservative and hold to conservative ideas just because that is what they believe? You may be spoon fed leftist propaganda and believe every craazy theory that comes along, but I don’t. I don’t even get cable or broadcast TV.
gasdocpol., setting aside your silly conspiracy theories about McCain listening in, this was so ugly it bears a response…
“…a POW who sang like a canary…”
Tell you what, let me beat the crap out of you for fifteen minutes and I can get you to say whatever I want. McCain suffered unbelievably for days in horrific conditions and finally broke. ANYONE will break under sufficient beatings, so your ignorant statement exposes that as a partisan you are blinded to what really happened. Your guy got beat up because he is void of ideas and McCain didn’t becuase agree with him on every issue or not (and I don’t), he has served this country for decades in ways you and Obama alike cannot match. Unless of course you spent some time in a Vietnamese prison camp?
Between your kookie conspiracy theory to explain away the floor mopping Obama suffered to your cowardly attack on a man who served this country, your arguments are intellectually and morally empty.
I saw the Rick Sanchez interview with Pastor Warren on Utube
Pastor Warren, the host of last night’s forum was just on CNN. In an interview with Rick Sanchez the pastor admitted McCain was not even at the Church for the first half hour of the event. This admission comes as a surprise to those of us who watched the event and were told many times that McCain was at the Church and in isolation.
CNN says they talked to McCain’s camp and they said no one in his camp was listening. The honor system, are you kidding me?
I think it is pretty clear at this point McCain did indeed know the questions in advance
Of course he did not listen to the Obama questions an answers. lol.
Gramm is no longer officially the National chairman for McCain’s campaign , but he is still his guru. mcCain campaigned for Gramm for president in 1996 because he thought that he was such a genius in economics.
I had a link in the previous that would not post after a few tries, google the following if you are interested mccain advisor georgia lobbyist
Third try, took a link out.
“Can you please provide the exact quote from the Saddleback Civil Forum where McCain āconfused Sunnis, Shiites and Al Qaeda multiple timesā?”
Paul,
I think gasdocpol was pointing out who bad McCain is in many areas, regardless of the conference or not, looking through these posts you would think that McCain is the next based thing to GWB(from a right wing perspective). McCain has made so many gaffes and poor decisions in the past 6 months alone on the campaign trail which goes to the ultimate point of his ability to lead this nation. With regards to Russia and Georgia, does it make a difference at all to you folks that his position could be influenced by one of his advisors who is paid by the Georgian government?
Let’s try this again

gasdocpol,
A line by line response to your comments:
>>>We now know that McCain was not in the ācone of silenceā but en route to the church. He knew that the program had already started and if he was not listening to it on a blackberry he was stupid.
>>>He was deliberately late so he could do that. That explains how he was answering the questions even before they were finished being asked.
Can you please provide one shred of evidence that this accusation from the Obama campaign is true? You merely repeat political talking points from the Obama campaign.
>>>For McCain to have confused Sunnis, Shiites and Al Qaeda multiple times tells me that he does not even know the basics of mideast politics.
Can you please provide the exact quote from the Saddleback Civil Forum where McCain “confused SUnnis, Shiites and Al Qaeda multiple times”?
>>>McCain does not knolw much about ecomomics. as proof of that his top economics advisor is Phil Gramm
Phil Gramm no longer works for the McCain campaign.
>>>McCainās going off half-cocked about Russia is really scarey to me.
Ronald Reagan’s “going off half-cocked about Russia” also scared liberals thirty years ago when Russia was abusing its power. Reagan’s leadership contained Soviet aggression until the Berlin wall came down. What you call “half-cocked” I’d call bold leadership.
We now know that McCain was not in the “cone of silence” but en route to the church. He knew that the program had already started and if he was not listening to it on a blackberry he was stupid.
He was deliberately late so he could do that. That explains how he was answering the questions even before they were finished being asked.
examples of McCains lack of depth and breadth of knowledge of issues.(intellectual laziness, as it were)
For McCain to have confused Sunnis, Shiites and Al Qaeda multiple times tells me that he does not even know the basics of mideast politics.
By his own admission , McCain does not knolw much about ecomomics. as proof of that his top economics advisor is Phil Gramm (who made possible the ENRON meltdown, the subprime mortgage disaster and oil futures trading abuses.
McCain’s top foreign affairs advisor is Neocon Randall Scheunemann who was also on the payroll of Republic of Georgia. McCain’s going off half-cocked about Russia is really scarey to me.
It is not evident to me that Obama’s mind is impaired by drugs he took long ago. I do have some problem’s with McCain’s emotional stability and quality of his thought processes.
I need to even he playing field.
Paul, I have said it so many times, I am not a liberal, I actually voted Ron Paul in the primaries, and taking a serious look at Chuck Baldwin. However, my points look liberal because I think the current “conservative” movement is way off track. My anti war stance has nothing to do with left wing, it has everything to do with what is right and wrong and what the rule of law is and the abuse of power is. It just so happens that the left agrees with my stance on this particular issue.
Sometimes even I wonder who the moderator of this blog is!
His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor.
Sometimes…if you take in too much oxygen too fast…you get dizzy and pass out…
Funny, Pixelmaster, I was thinking that YOUR comments were filled so much with LEFT WING talking points that YOU can’t see the forest for the trees.
BTW, I smile every time you take it upon yourself to welcome a new liberal voice to the comment section. Sometimes even I wonder who the moderator of this blog is! š
Arthur,
“And today Iraqis are a free people on their way to a democracy” Foxnews been treating you good lately? Your posts are filled so much with right wing talking points that I am convinced that there is no way for you to see the forest through the trees.
gasdocpol, welcome to the blog, your well thought out posts are a breathe of fresh air.
McCain certainly didn’t look “intellectually lazy” at the Saddleback Forum.
I find it incredible that liberals are actually so bold as to continue to lampoon McCain’s POW experience. I don’t think there has ever been a liberal POW because I don’t think there is a liberal who loves this country enough to make that kind of sacrifice.
I suppose Barack Obama’s admitted drug use somehow qualifies him for the presidency in a way that McCain doing what sailors do in their free time doesn’t?
Obama proved Saturday night that he is an empty suit with an empty head.
Obama shocked all the Liberals when almost the first words out of his mouth in that speech were “I am not against all wars, I am against dumb wars.
McCain went from “Punk McNasty” in high school to a raunchy rowdy partyboy at USNA to a risk-taking hot dog flyboy who lost at least 3 planes because of ineptitude to a POW who sang like a canary to a fowl mouthed superstious cumpulsive gambler with an anger management problem. He was intellectually lazy as a midshipman and he is intellectually lazy now about issues. He is profane, forgetful and emotionally unstable.
His top advisors are Gramm on economics and Scheunemann on foreign affairs (look them up).
And today Iraqis are a free people on their way to a democracy, the only democracy in the middle east other than Israel. The surge that he opposed reflexively and McCain supported has brought victory from the jaws of defeat.
Obama didn’t have any more substantive ideas in 2002 than he does now. He was great a parroting the leftist party line then, and he is great at it now. He clearly is unable to think on his feet, and has no ideas of his own. He looks nice on stage and sounds nice delivering prepared remarks. One wold hope you are able to recognize the difference between empty rhetorical skill and substantive opinions derived from real experience. We are voting for President, not a speech contest. Time spent in academia and as a “community organizer” hardly qualifies one to be President.
Arthur Sido
I would say that Ob ma had a substanive idea or two in October 2002 when he said
” I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. Iām opposed to dumb wars.”
Check what people with decades of “experience” were saying then.
No one is assuming that blacks support Thomas, they have been force fed the notion that he is an Uncle Tom because he doesn’t toe the radical left line. having said that, Thomas is a brilliant jurist and someone that young black men and women should look up to and aspire to be like.
You are making an assumption that blacks support Thomas just because he is black. If you talk to a wide range a black folk, you will find that most agree with Obama about Thomas including Jackson. There were many more qualified people than Thomas. He was the neo-con affimative action hire in the worse possible way.
I am not that impressed with the supposed intelligence of Obama. It takes more than the ability to delive a great prepared speech to an adoring audience to make one intelligent. He is amiable, he is oratorically gifted but completely unable to deliver substantive ideas. Probably because he doesn’t have any substantive ideas.
It has nothing to do with skin color, and everything to do with being skin deep.
or the intelligence of, say, that black guy Obama.
