Barack Obama’s ‘lost’ brother has been found, living in a shantytown in Kenya on “less than a dollar a month.” George Obama is the 26 year old half brother of Barack, born to his father and a woman named Jael. George says he is embarassed by his poverty, living intentionally as a recluse to avoid answering questions about his famous surname.
George has met his older, famous brother only twice, most recently in 2006 when Obama travelled to Nairobi. Their encounter was brief, lasting just a few minutes. “It was like meeting a complete stranger.”
For all of Obama’s talk about using your money to help “the least of these,” is it plausible to ask whether he shouldn’t be using his own money to help his own brother? God says Obama’s treatment of his brother makes him “worse than an infidel”:
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
The only responsibility I feel that Barack has is to care for his grandparents if they are still alive. He is under no obligation to search
out every relative.
I am sure he has more than enough right here in America that need
him. If his brother REQUESTS some help then I feel he should give a
him a hand up. It would be a godly thing to do.
ALSO MAY I ASK TO YOU SEND YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS MONEY AND ARE YOU TAKING CARE OF YOUR PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS OR ALLOWING YOUR WIFE TO SEND MONEY TO HERS.
I think it could become quite a burden to have to carry every relative you have.
I truly believe God means for us to give where we can and where we
see a need but I dont think that he is going to hold us responsible
for the welfare of every relative we have.
THESE ARE SHARED RESPONSIBLITIES ON EVERY MEMBER TO DO
SOMETHING, NOT JUST THE ONE WITH THE MOST MONEY.
You have forced me to have “sympathy for the devil” in this case. This isn’t an appropriate line of attack.
Obama’s deadbeat dad left Obama when he was only two. Didn’t have much contact with him afterwards.
So, why should he feel any family loyalty to any of his father’s offspring after his father left him. Yeah, his father went around having child after child but if I was Barack, I would have no feeling once so ever for those offspring. If I had any feeling it would be one of antipathy.
I hear this commonly happens, although in this case yeah, there were some unique factors. But I have heard that it is often the case where a father (sometimes a mother) abandons his “Starter family” and indeed becomes a very good father to his new family, but for the children of his first marriage he just for the most part cuts off relations with them.
No wonder that the “starter children” would have so much resentment towards the “new children”. The new children have the father that he should have been for for the starter children but wasn’t.
By making fun of this situation in the case of Barak you are alienating all the “starter children” out there who have found themselves in a similar situation.
One thing I do find interesting about the whole “George Obama” thing is that his father named him Barack (an Arab name) and this guy George (an American name). Or is this just a nickname, like say Barry?
But again, don’t blame Barack for not not helping a guy who really isn’t his brother except genetically. First we don’t even know if he knew about George, and even if he did why should he care? I honestly wouldn’t care if some offspring of my deadbeat dad who left my mother and I as a child lived or died. He would be like a stranger.
Although, I am am just speculating on how I would feel as my dad never left my mother and I.
Freya,
You are are absolutely right. God will use whoever is elected to bring about His purpose for His ultimate Glory. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” (Proverbs 21:1) I just cannot vote for a socialist and violate my convictions.
Well, they do live two worlds apart. It’s amazing that the media just found his brother this week! He’s been out there for over 20 years.
Pray before you vote for anyone. God can use a Democrat or a Republican as long as they have accepted Jesus as their personal savior and are living out his ways.

Don’t you find it interesting that the Left is claiming that abortion did not go down during the Bush administration? I thought they wanted more! Just a thought.
Ben,
One of Bill Clinton’s mantra’s about abortion was it should be, legal, safe, and rare. Isn’t that the same accomplishment as Bush? We keep hearing that it is all about the judges yet 7 of the 2 were installed by Republican presidents. There should be more to our vote than abortion. Fair tax policy and social justice should be in the equation as well. I am currently making my way through The Great Awakening by Jim Wallis. I encourage many on the right to take a look at it. He is actually more centrist than I thought, he is for holding both parties accountable to biblical standards of justice and fairness. Good read so far.
BTW to all, I have made a personal promise to Paul to not get personal with my discussions on these topics. I can get worked up over these issues and forget that there is a person behind the text. I had the privilege of meeting Paul and his son Joel last night and I hope it helped both of us put a face behind the comments. As I said before I want us, as Christians to be known for what we do to help the society and not for what we are against, in the same sense I hope, on this blog I am known for what I add to the conversation and not reducing the dialog to personally snippets. Text can be hard to show intent and I will try to be better at conveying intent. 😉
Abortion went down 9% under President Bush; that is not what I would call “strategic inactivity”.
Nancy,
Giverment. How illustrative! You said more in one word than many of us could in reams of pages! I guess brevity is the soul of wit!
Here’s source material for the party game (if you can’t deal with bleeped out words, don’t click it):

non-sectarian violence – HA!
liquidity backstop – HA!
A tough game for tough customers… 🙂
Amen Greg!
And while we are on the free stuff rant…I know with this little bit of ranting many will gasp and shout legalism…But, has anyone ever thought that just maybe some of the tax burden we are facing is because the church has in many cases neglected it’s responsibility for the tithe??? Since the funds are not freely given and available for the charity programs that should be outreach programs by our churches, they have been taken over by the giverment and a shall we say forced tithe is now in effect… this by no means gives us a pass,(concerning giving) but it is something to consider as we consider our ways….
Haggai 1:6-7
The President is part of the “executive” branch. His importance in the abortion debate is to nominate judges that will stand of the side of life, and lobby for and sign legislation that would bring abortion on demand to an end. It is Congress that writes the laws, therefore they are the ones with the most influence. The influence the courts wield should only be within the scope of the Constitution. The problem with Roe vs. Wade is that the Supreme Court injected a so called right to privacy that is not in the Constitution and therefore WAY over-stepped it bounds.
I know a number of posters on this here blog do not care for our current President. Personally, I like the man. I have ever since I first moved to Texas in 1990 when he was the owner of the Texas Rangers. I thought he did a fine job as Governor of Texas and even though he has not been as conservative as I would have liked during his tenure as President, he is a man of integrity and has acted according to his core values (yes, he actually has them!) I mean even Bill Clinton got welfare reform right (even though he was probably kicking and screaming in the process!)
Anyway, regarding the original theme of this post, Obama is showing his true colors as a left-wing ideologue by not taking the responsibility of assisting his own brother. Typical left-wing response. “It’s not my responsibility. We have government for that.” If we can learn anything in history, it’s that the bigger the government, the less efficient it becomes. Give people free stuff, we decide they like free stuff. Even though the free stuff isn’t as good as the stuff for which we work, it’s free! And who doesn’t like free stuff?!!
On this present course, one day the economy will no longer be able to withstand all of the entitlement programs that have run amuck for so many years. If we would take responsibility for our own families, be willing to work hard, and demand that Washington end superfluous and redundant welfare programs, we should be able to ward off an economic disaster in the future.
Good show, Paul G. Here’s another for the current administration:
It’s not “not advancing the pro-life cause”, it’s “strategic inactivity”
I got one:
It’s not murder, it’s a woman’s right of choice.
The mantra of the Bush administration: “It’s not ” + {insert bad thing here} + “, it’s ” + {insert obfuscated multi-word synonym here}
It makes for a great party game:
HOST: “Your turn Bill – It’s not torture, it’s…”
BILL: “Aggressive interrogation techniques?”
HOST: “That’s correct for 200 points!”
The mantra of socialism: “Don’t do as I do, do as I say…”
I agree with you. It does not excuse Obama at all. I think we are all a little naieve if we don’t believe all of these guys have skeletons in their closet. Thank God for grace.
“The Illinois senator mentions his brother in his autobiography, describing him in just one passing paragraph as a “beautiful boy with a rounded head”.
Is this an indication that possibly “Jael” isn’t French…?
Fundy,
Cindy McCain isn’t running for president, is she?
According to the story you cite, her half-sister was not disinherited by her father, even though Cindy received the Lion’s share of the inheritence (obviously). Cindy McCain’s half-sister isn’t living in abject poverty, on a dollar a day, in a shantytown in Keyna, either.
So while some moral questions are raised here, this still doesn’t excuse Obama for what he has not done for his brother, does it?
Paul,
Here is the link for the information on Cindy McCain’s hidden half-sister:
