You’re Kidding, Right?

Obama says he is willing to debate McCain on who has “the temperment and judgment to lead”? And he thinks he can win that debate with less than a decade in public service against John McCain?

And did he really just give himself credit for Bush’s plan to withdraw all troops from Iraq by 2011? Talk about Hubris! What a load of crap he is shoveling tonight.

  1. I have to tell you, if I were siding for McCain I would be very concerned about a debate between Obama and him. McCain has proven that he is full of gaffs in unscripted situations. The left is using them as an attack on his senility. I don’t think he is senile but I do think there is an issue when the person that is running on the “protect America” platform cannot tell between Sunni and Shia(SP?), on several occasions. I think Obama would crush him.
Regarding troop withdrawal, Obama’s record on Iraq is pretty much set in stone he never liked the idea in the first place and has been advocating troop withdrawal ever since. He has recently come to the center to advocating a gradual withdrawal over a Ron Paulish immediate withdrawal. I like Ron Paul but I do think an immediate withdraw is foolish. I do hope that we can as a nation keep the conversation of troop withdrawal going. BTW, it is interesting that the Bush plan of withdrawal came only after the Iraqi government demanded it. There was no conversation of it on the right until that point. We really need to take a hard long look at the effects that war profiteering has had on the political process and the war mongering attitude that attributes to. What effect has companies like Halliburton, KBR and Blackwater had on war and how does privatizing military services effect the lobbying efforts to endless war in Washington? War is a costly event in so many ways, the right wing admits now that is was done on faulty intelligence. These are not easy and simple mistakes to make and if they are being driven by a few people with a lot of money to lobby for it then hopefully we can learn from the misguided decisions and not make the same mistake in the future. This war is a passionate thing for me, it bothers me that so many of us, including myself, gave our leaders a pass on this and never asked the really tough questions. We can’t let fear motivate our actions, when we do irrational decisions are often made. In the 1930’s, the German’s let fear control their actions. I used to think that the people of Germany were evil for allowing those awful situations to happen. There were not, we are not, we simply can’t allow the politics of fear control our actions. I know Paul that this sounds leftist and very much the democratic theme but I also think it is true, history is abundant with bad things happening as a result of fear of some kind of evil. The inquisitions, the actions of the puritans, the Germans in the 30’s all were fearful of something; we need not be so in 2008, especially if we have the saving promise of Jesus Christ.

    HA a 5 minute post turns into a novel…
