Obama in Ohio today to speak on faith

The Associated Press reports:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is reaching out to evangelical voters by endorsing an expansion of faith-based programs.

Obama will be in Zanesville, Ohio today at 1:00 pm speaking at an outreach ministry of the Central Presbyterian Church there.

It seems Obama’s vision, however, is one of enlisting churches and religious organizations in the Left’s agenda to revive the failed social gospel programs of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Part of what he will say today:

The challenges we face today, from putting people back to work to improving our schools, from saving our planet to combating HIV/AIDS to ending genocide, are simply too big for government to solve alone. We need all hands on deck.

None of the above are contained anywhere in Jesus’ mandate to the church to “preach the gospel to every creature.” When Obama expands President Bush’s faith-based initiatives you can be certain he will also tighten the controls on religious organizations who accept the funds to ensure that the Left’s redefined version of the gospel is being implemented.
