Dr. Jerome Corsi Monday

Dr. Jerome Corsi, author of The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, will be my guest during the 5:00 pm ET hour on the Monday, October 13 edition of The Paul Edwards Program.

Dr. Corsi has just returned from Kenya, home of Barack Obama’s birth father, where he had been doing research into Obama’s family background. Just before he was to hold a press conference in Kenya to announce his findings, he was detained by Kenyan immigration officials, eventually deported, and not permitted to hold his press conference. Who is protecting Obama from what?

Dr. Corsi received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science in 1972 and has written many books and articles, including the No. 1 New York Times best-seller, Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry. His latest best-seller was The Late Great USA: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada. He is a senior staff reporter for WorldNetDaily.com and the author of two books on contemporary Iran: Atomic Iran and Showdown with Nuclear Iran. In his 2005 book Black Gold Stranglehold: The Myth of Scarcity and the Politics of Oil, which he co-authored with Craig. R. Smith, Dr. Corsi predicted oil prices at over $100 a barrel.

Coddled Christians and Their Wimpy Worldview

With panic overtaking the global financial markets and the outcome of the U.S. presidential election looking favorable to Senator Obama, these words from John Piper in his latest book Spectacular Sins need to be heard:

It seems to me that Christians in the West are being coddled. We suffer little in the name of Christ. Therefore, we read the Bible not with a desperate hunger for evidences of God’s triumph over pain, but with a view to improving our private pleasures.

Therefore, we read the Bible selectively. We pick a text here or there to fit our felt needs. This is like a doctor who forgets how to write prescriptions for the best antibiotics because everybody seems healthy, and he has spent the last decades tweaking good healh with hip-hop excercise videos, unaware that pestilence is at the door. It’s like the soldier who forgets how to use his weapons because the times seem peaceful, and he has spent the last decades doing relief work and teaching children how to play games.

But the times are changing. For seventy million baby boomers, for example, life has changed. It seems very short now. What used to be a fond nostalgia for the sixties has turned into an ache that the beloved decade is now so far away that its main meaning is: we are dying. Different ages get the message in different ways.

And not only life, but the world too is shrinking. People who don’t like Christians are all around us. Only a strange providence keeps our churches from being bombed. It’s only a matter of time till the reality of the rest of the world comes home…

The coddled Western world will sooner or later give way to great affliction. And when it does, whose vision of God will hold? Where are Christians being prepared for great global sorrows? Where is the Christian mind and soul being prepared for the horrors to come? Christians in the West are weakened by wimpy worldviews. And wimpy worldviews make wimpy Christians. God is weightless in our lives. He is not terrifyingly magnificent. His sovereignty is secondary (at best) to his sensitivity.

I am writing this book to build a vision of God into our lives that will not let us down in the worst of times. I mean really bad times. Horrific times. Who is prepared to meet the Agony that is coming?

Global cataclyms and personal catasrophes are coming. I say this not as one with my finger in the wind, but with my finger in the Bible.

The election of Barack Obama will be the beginning of sorrows for followers of Jesus Christ. The more I learn about Obama, the more convinced I am that he is a closet Muslim with anti-Israel sympathies. His adulation by people around the world, and the admiration he has gained from world leaders with no record to support such a response leads me to believe that there is a spiritual power at work which has elevated this man above his pay-grade.

I am convinced that should God appoint this man to office, God will use him to inflict great persecution against the church of Jesus Christ, driving Christians to their knees while separating wheat from chaff and sheep from goats. Will the real Christians please stand up!

Campaign 2008 and age bias

Reading other blogs and watching the media coverage of this presidential campaign since Obama’s convention speech and McCain’s VP announcement, it seems that the American public desire an impossibility in their presidential candidates.

They want their president to be young AND experienced. The two cannot go together.

I am frankly amazed at the kind of age bias that is directed at John McCain. If the media were saying about Barack Obama’s race the kind of things they are saying about John McCain’s age, there would (hopefully) be an outcry from the American public. But it turns out you can make fun of old people and get away with it.

Barack Obama has answered the question of his youth and inexperience with Joe Biden, the same way JFK did with LBJ. John McCain has answered the question of his age and experience with Sarah Palin, the same way GHWB attempted to do with Dan Quayle. The difference between Obama’s decision and McCain’s decision is that Obama’s decision works against his own “change” message by putting two Washington establishment liberals at the top of the ticket while McCain’s decision actually works in favor of a new direction for Washington politics by bringing in a woman who has absolutely no connection to Washington. Even Dan Quayle was a Washington insider.

So your choice this time around really comes down to the youth and inexperience of Barack Obama balanced by the aged but experienced Joe Biden, a ticket made up of two men who are in lockstep ideologically, which if you evaluated it honestly is nothing more than the same liberal leadership Democrats have offerred since LBJ; or the age and experience of John McCain who has been daring enough to choose as his running mate a youthful woman with limited experience – none inside Washington – but who is ideologically opposite McCain on some economic (i.e. oil and drilling) and social issues (i.e.,civil unions and embryonic stem cell research).

Obama admits ‘hair trigger’ criticism of Palin announcement

The first reaction from the Obama campaign to John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin as his VP was to diss small town America. His campaign put out a statement which said in part:

Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.

There is a pattern of elitism in the Obama campaign. Remember that this is the same Barack Obama who described working-class voters as Americans who “…get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Now Obama has distanced himself from his first harsh response to the Palin pick, blaming it on a ‘hair trigger’ reaction by his staff. Ben Smith at at Politico.com reports:

At a stop in Monaca, Pa., Barack Obama seemed to distance himself from his campaign’s first, harshly critical response to the Palin pick.

“I think that, uh, you know, campaigns start getting these, uh, hair triggers and, uh, the statement that Joe and I put out reflects our sentiments,” he said, according to the pool report, apparently criticizing his staff for going overboard, as he did occasionally in the primary.

He was referring to a more gracious statement of congratulations he issued later with Biden, which he then reiterated.

Let’s see: he tells Rick Warren tough questions are “above my grade grade,” and now he is allowing senior advisers to make ‘hair trigger’ statements. Does this sound like the kind of president we want with his finger on a nuclear trigger?
