Michelle Obama actually made the statement TWICE: once earlier in the day and then again later at a different rally. At the FIRST event she didn’t use the word “really,” which you accuse conservative media of “blanking out.” She added it at the second event.
To say “this is the first time in my life that I am proud” is different than saying “this is the first time in my life that I am REALLY proud”. If it has the same meaning then why did the right wing media (Drudge, FoxNews, et al) blank the word out????? If it was insignificant it would have been left in……
It doesn’t change the point I was making Iggy. Was she not “really proud” of her country when she got to get a top dollar education, along with her husband? Was she not really proud of her country when her husband was elected to congress?
Is she not really proud that her country is a free place where she’s been able to live and be provided for in ways that even most North Americans aren’t accustomed to?
The bottom line is that you’re either PROUD or not PROUD. The difference between REALLY proud and NOT proud is functionally no different than just saying proud.
Neither did Obama’s wife, the right wing spin machine too a word out of her comments. The “really” when put in context the statement is different.
Do you not think Iggy, if McCain was a member of a church where the white pastor was vehemently and undoubtedly critiquing BLACK America as an oppressor of white rights, he’d already be out of the campaign.
McCain’s wife hasn’t said she’s never before been proud of her country until NOW….
You cannot compare apples with oranges.
Why all the talk about Pastor Wright? Rod Parsley is McCain’s spiritual advisor and John Hagee has endorsed him. Let’s get the quote mining machine out because these guys are a treasure trove.
