You Are Here: “A Story of Hope in the Darkest of Times”
GUEST: Peter Gentile, Producer of You Are Here

When 38 planes carrying 6,500 individuals arrived at Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11, the eastern-most point of North America, the small Canadian town came together to host a group of strangers who would leave as family.
“7,000 people showed up in a community of 9,000 and stayed for four days.”
The people of Gander showcased the best in humanity. They united together as a community to not only give these strangers a place to stay, but to welcome them with love and generosity as if their unexpected visit had been joyously anticipated.
“They treated us like welcomed, invited guests,” said passenger Kevin Jung. “And I kept thinking, ‘We’re not guests!’ Guests are invited; we just fell out of the sky into their town.”
“You Are Here,” from award-winning producer Peter Gentile, will show in nearly 800 U.S. movie theaters as a one-night event on September 11, 2019.
WSJ: Americans Have Shifted Dramatically on What Values Matter Most
- Views varied sharply by age. Among people 55 and older, for example, nearly 80% said patriotism was very important, compared with 42% of those ages 18-38—the millennial generation and older members of Gen-Z. Two-thirds of the older group cited religion as very important, compared with fewer than one-third of the younger group.
- “There’s an emerging America where issues like children, religion and patriotism are far less important. And in America, it’s the emerging generation that calls the shots about where the country is headed,” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted the survey with Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt.
