It’s looking more like a woman

Here’s what I said on this blog on Tuesday:

What if John McCain really upset the apple cart, countered the falsely created perceptions of Democrats that Republicans hate women – especially successful women – and tapped not a politician, but a successful female business executive to be his running mate who could speak to America’s economic and energy crises?

Media reports confirm that Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney will NOT be the pick, and speculation has turned to Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska. I would have preferred McCain choose a non-politician, but he is making the right move if he chooses a woman.

Of course the media is already reporting that IF McCain chooses a woman, it isn’t because Republicans value women, but rather a crass attempt to appeal to the disillusioned Hillary voters. Republicans can’t ever get a break from the MSM.

8:55 am UPDATE: No official announcement from the McCain campaign yet, but just now on FOX News in responding to a question about how Sarah Palin would be received as a VP candidate, Karl Rove said, “We’ll have to see how she conducts herself over the next several weeks.” Looks like Rove believes she’s the pick.

  1. Throughout all this I think republicans still have 2 major groups to contend with. 1 Ron Paul conservatives, who look at the republican party as war mongering and lost its way. 2. Young evangelicals, who 1 or 2 issues no longer trumping the rest. I these groups made up a large amount of votes for the republicans. I am not so sure that having a woman VP will sway enough women to negate the other groups. Of course that is my completely, politically ignorant opinion, I am sure Rove has a strategy. Seeing what he has done the past 2 days I am sure he could make inroads for a candidate like Chuck Baldwin if he hired him. Baldwin has to much integrity though to hire a man like Rove.

  2. MSNBC’s Morning Joe just reported that ABC News is reporting that they have confirmed Sarah Palin is still in Alaska this morning. Again, McCain has the media talking all over each other and it ISN’T about Obama’s speech. Brilliant.

  3. FoxNews is reporting that a woman and two teenage boys were reported getting of a GulfStream jet this morning in Dayton. The tail # apparently belongs to a private company that McCain uses frequently.

Palin has two teenage boys (I think she has 4 kids total though)…

  4. Wow, that would really upset the apple cart. The Hilary voters would come to McCain in droves; this has Rove’s hand all over it. I can’t stand Rove but concede is a brilliant political strategist.
