Hugh continues his pile on Huckabee, this time with dinner table gossip that the former governor was asked about a National Intelligence Report on Iran that was released YESTERDAY which Huckabee admitted not having seen. For Hugh this disqualifies Huckabee from being considered a serious candidate, but it begs the question: in the midst of a busy campaign how much of all the intelligence out there can a candidate be expected to consume and still stay focused on his day to day campaign?
What’s Hugh’s real issue with Huckabee?
My concern about the Huckabee pop is that it is hard to imagine the former Arkansas governor winning the November vote.
Pragmatism over principle.
Iggy,
Huckabee has responded to the Huffington Post hit piece on his role in the parole of the rapist:

There certainly is a lot of truth to the idea that the attacks come once a threat is perceived. They are already starting to attack Ron Paul on his stances, where before he was ignored as nonsense. The 4.2 million dollar in 24 hours Nov 5th raised a lot of eyebrows, wait until Dec 16th…..The American people are sick and tired of our “leaders” on both sides of the isle.
Thanks for the resources, I will certainly check them out….
Iggy,
Good Morning America this morning did what I consider a hit piece on this story. I’m really trying to be objective, and I recognize that Huckabee indeed had a major role in the parole of this guy, but it seems to me the MSM is trying to put the full blame on Huckabee when the decision was the parole board’s to make. Of course it will be argued that Huckabee could commute the guy’s sentence anyway.
Here’s the link to the GMA story where Huckabee is given minimal response time: http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/12/despite-victims.html.
Huckabee was also on This Week with George Stephanopolus on Sunday where he responded to the parole question. The audio podcast is here:

Paul,
Thanks for explaining the glitch, I was wondering why this happens and I see the post from Pixelmaster now. Good deal.
On to the issue with Huck, are you telling me that you will ignore issue with a candidate simply because a left wing blog posted it? Sorry, man but that seems awefully short sited. I would think that one would atleast brief it to see if there is any meat and then make a decision. I think the letters from the victim posted on the site are pretty damaging. Admittedly, I am a Ron Paul guy and if townhall ran something to smear him I would atleast check it out for truth. I like a lot of what you say, but this seems like a putting the finger in your ears and saying “I am not going to listen” over and over……
I will say this, while I think this looks very bad for Huck I will be looking forward to what he has to say about it before I make a final decision. If you find his response to it could you please post it?
The media intensity on Huckabee’s influence on the parole of this rapist/murderer is just one more indication of what it’s like to be in front of the pack. The fact that Huffington Post is all over this is one very good reason for me to stand by Huckabee. Hard to believe my friend Hugh Hewitt would be in the same camp with Huffington Post.
Iggy,
What you are experiencing with posts seemingly appearing and then disappearing is evidentlt a WordPress glitch. I moderate all comments on this blog and none of them are supposed to appear until I approve them. Evidently when comments are first posted they are appearing for a little while and then vanishing (sort of like what the Bible says about the length of a human life!). I’m sure if you go back and look through the comments, all of the comments you think have disappeared are still very much there.
It happened again, I saw a post by Pixelmaster and now it is gone. Strange blog. Anyway, here is another more detailed article that I think links to what Pixelmaster posted. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/12/04/documents-expose-huckabee_n_75362.html I am not trying to slam Huck here I like a lot of what he has to say, even though I like Ron Paul better but we voters need to be making informed decisions.
Pixelmaster,
That post with the links to the letters is very damaging. Paul talks about pragmatism over principle, the most principled candidate in the race is Ron Paul. Christians really need to look long and hard at him.
Maybe Hugh is more concerned with the story about Huckabee pardoning a rapist.

Given this information and the fact that I have pointed out how DEMS love him I don’t see why you are latching on to him so much.
