UPDATE: ABC’s Jake Tapper points us to the video vindicating the president: http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=8049121
The above widely distributed photo allegedly shows President Obama checking out the backside of a member of Brazil’s delegation to the G8 Summit in Italy. The young woman is Mayora Tavares.
However, I saw a VIDEO of this scene on FoxNews this morning, which I cannot seem to locate online. Clearly in the video Obama is looking down at the step and out his peripheral vision at the woman in the black top and flowered skirt behind him. In the video he is getting ready to extend his hand to the woman behind him to help her down the steps.
All appearences to the contrary, the president is NOT checking out the young girl to his right. Shame on the media and Drudge Report.
Good Paul A++
This is why I like you Paul.
We don’t always see eye-to-eye on politics (although I think on the more important issues of theology I agree with you far more often than I disagree…which is what matters). But one thing I really respect is that you don’t stoop to dirty fighting. You’ve publically refused to take the low road of saying “Obama’s not my President” and, when he does something you approve of, you are quick to point it out. And I applaud you for nipping this one in the bud…judge the man on whether you agree with his issues and decisions, not a photo that is easy to misread.
By the way, not to reopen yesterday’s discussion…but I was pleasantly surprised that Pelosi shot down the proposal for Congress to honor Michael Jackson. Good for her and for the majority of people who didn’t support it.
Reminds me of Don Henley’s song “Dirty Laundry!” It seems at times that all the media wants is to stir up controversy in order to sell advertising. Let’s face it. Man is depraved and eats this stuff up, and doesn’t care if it is true or not.We;re always looking for a train wreck and really don’t care if it is true or not! Thanks for being honest and defending the President in a clear case where he deserves defense.
Good for you Paul! : )
