At the conclusion of his Father’s Day Sermon at the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago on Sunday, June 15 Senator Barack Obama made the point that his life revolves around his “two little girls,” and he fears for his little girls’ future in America without him as their president. The Senator offered a litany of ills that – from his vantage point – currently plague America, which make America a terrible place to raise children:
- America is a country “where there is a huge gap between a few people who are wealthy and whole bunch of people who are struggling every day.”
- America is a country “that is still divided by race.”
- America is a country where “girls don’t have as much opportunity as boys do.”
- America is a country that is “hated around the world because we don’t cooperate with other nations.”
- America is a country that is in “grave danger because of what’s happening to the planet.”
In Senator Obama’s America there would be no income disparities because his confiscatory tax policies would take the wealth earned by the initiative of hard working Americans and redistribute it to American’s who lack the initiative to work hard and make something of themselves. A recent editorial in The Detroit News properly characterizes Obama’s economic policy as “a war on wealth”:
While giving part of the middle class a break, Obama would wage what could be described as a war on wealth through the tax code. He would restore the tax rates on those earning more than $250,000 a year to pre-2001 levels, remove the cap on payroll taxes for upper-income earners and push the current 15 percent capital gains tax rate to 28 percent.
While soaking the rich might have some political resonance, it’s risky to strip investment incentives from those most likely to create jobs. And despite the rhetoric, even with the Bush tax cuts, the top 1 percent of American earners still carry 35.6 percent of the tax burden, compared with 31.6 percent in 1996, according to the Internal Revenue Service.
In Senator Obama’s America there is still “a racial divide,” even though millions of white Americans went to the polls over the past six months and gave a black man a real opportunity to become President of the United States. A February 2005 San Francisco Chronicle article highlighted the gains being made by African-Americans in corporate America:
For executives who came of age in the post-civil rights era of the 1960s, the growing ranks of top black managers indicate race is becoming less of a factor, some say.
“I think tremendous progress has been made. It’s really a reflection that we’re making progress corporately,” said D. Steve Boland, 36, president and managing director of LandSafe Inc., a division of Countrywide Financial Corp.
“I think there’s a tremendous amount of opportunity.”
In Senator Obama’s America girls don’t have as much opportunity as boys, even though girls now make up the majority of undergrad students in our colleges and universities. Contrary to liberal propaganda, women have broken the glass ceiling. A recent story in USA Today highlights the gains female CEOs are making in corporate America:
Female CEOs running major U.S. corporations grew from nine to a record 12 in 2007. While that is only 2.4% of the Fortune 500, one trend is developing that might suggest that women are going mainstream.For the second year in a row, the stock performance of women-led companies mirrored that of companies run by men. Some advocates of women in leadership such as Judy Rosener of the University of California-Irvine Graduate School of Management predict women will eventually out perform men.
There have been 29 female state governors in the United States, with seven females currently serving as chief executives of their respective states. Sixteen of the 100 United States Senators are female, the largest number of women to serve the Senate in history. And, oh, Hillary Clinton – a girl – garnered more of the popular vote in her race for the Democratic nomination than did Barack Obama.
In Senator Obama’s America the worst thing that could ever happen is for America not to be liked. We would be loved around the world because we would never defend ourselves against rogue dictators and terrorist states. Instead we would reason with them while they held knives to the throats of our citizens. Jim Geraghty at National Review reports“top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef saying the terrorist group supports Obama’s foreign-policy vision and hopes he wins:
“We don’t mind–actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance,” Yousef said in response to a question about the group’s willingness to meet with either of the Democratic presidential candidates.
Senator Obama’s approach to the terror threat as president would be the same as Bill Clinton’s: use the judicial system to prosecute elusive terrorists who blow up our ships and military installations, giving the terrorists more time to plot even bigger attacks on our citizens. We would only dare to defend ourselves if the anti-American United Nations gave us permission to do so.
In Senator Obama’s America we have more to fear from carbon emissions than we do from the associates of the 19 radical Islamists who flew planes into our buildings, murdering more than 3,000 of our citizens. The enemy of the state is the Big Three automakers along with all of American industry that dares to put the livelihood of its employees and communities above “global citizenship.”
Senator Obama is repulsed by the America he desires to lead as demonstrated by his suggestion in his victory speech in St. Paul, Minnesota that America has never provided care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless. His wife, Michelle, never had a reason, in all of her adult life, to be proud of America until her husband began campaigning for president.
America truly is the land of opportunity. Only here could a black man run for president by disparaging his country, suggesting with a straight face that America has failed to provide equal opportunity for all of its citizens while he himself is the beneficiary of American opportunity, a child of privilege who graduated from one of the finest private high schools in America, educated at Columbia University and Harvard Law School, and who, after less than three years in the U. S. Senate, is poised to be the next president of the United States. Nonetheless, the America that provided this great opportunity for Senator Obama is not good enough for his own children. Only in America.

Speaking of apocalyptic scenarios if your views are not put forth, I rec’d a letter from the ACLJ, Jay Sekulow. He was laying out his case why we should oppose the fairness doctrine. Read how he uses fear to frame the issue.

In my role as a talk host with Salem I have been critical of the Bush Administration and I have been especially critical of John McCain. NO ONE from Salem has EVER put any pressure on me to promote any candidate or policy position. My show is my own and I am free to speak my mind. You assume because Salem is conservative it has strong Republican ties, but I would challenge you to point to one instance of someone employed by Salem being fired or disciplined merely because they held a view opposite that of the company.
That having been said, my own views are certainly in line with the conservative viewpoint of my employer and I am proud to be a part of the Salem family.
How about yesterday, comparing Obama’s policies to the great depression. If we have a great depression, trust me, the groundwork has been laid since the 80’s. I am sorry you resent my comments about the party line, I didn’t mean it to be an insult, however, I am guessing that if you all of a sudden you started putting forth liberal views I am guessing the Salem brass would be none too happy. Don’t take it personal, I just know all too well the management of Salem and it’s strong ties to the republican party. Certain things, I am sure would not be tolerated. BTW, this blog has been hopping, great posts Paul.

What “apocalyptic scenarios” have I laid out in the event Obama is elected? If you listened consistently to my program you would know that while I support the conservative candidate I have made it clear that God is sovereign no matter which candidate wins.
Salem does not feed me a company or party line. The views I express here and on my radio program are my own and I resent the implication that my positions are merely bought.
Just to let you know, the “host” of this blog isn’t paid (by ANYONE) to write this blog. Seeing as I know him better than any of you, I can say that and know it’s true.

Pixel, I know Paul to be a man of great integrity and passion. I’m not going to speak for Paul, but I personally would hope you would keep any theological disagreements in the arena of debate and not disparage his personal virtue as an aside from that debate.
My comment was a slight chide at the host of this blog who lays out apocalyptic scenarios of what would happen if a Democrat took the white house. It’s kinda funny actually. I understand tho that he is paid by a right wing organization that needs to tow the company/party line. I know how it rolls…..

Nancy, my vote for Baldwin, is just that, a vote FOR Baldwin. I have the power of ONE vote, and if everyone would simply vote their one vote rather than analyzing anyone elses, maybe we wouldn’t have this outrageous political system with only two viable candidates. I REFUSE to vote for McCain, regardless of the consequences of my vote. A vote for either McCain or Obama would violate just about everything I believe.
And frankly, the modern day “Republican position” is a sham which I hope to weaken.
Nancy, Before Baldwin became the nominee for the Constitution party he made the case that a Dem would be better than a Rep in the white house as it would wake up the right to what it is that got them so far off track. Another Rep in the office would simply allow them to toe the party line.
I have wondered many times about McCain, I wonder if he were nominated if he wouldn’t just stick it to the Republicans. He has been burned many times by those on the far right and I wonder if he doesn’t feel like it would be payback time. He definitely panders to anyone that will give him the time of day.

I cannot for the life of me understand why you are against these tax policies, unless of course a pastor and radio talk show host makes over 250,000. We have witnessed since Bush and his congress instituted these outrageous tax cuts the wealth get richer and the poor get much poorer. The Right is famous for saying we need to earn what we deserve but they support a 15% tax on investments. So the wealth who have say 10,000,000 and makes 5% and get $500,000 per year and only gets taxed 15% to net $425,000. That is fair, talk about enabling laziness for those who are privileged. Those who say we need government out of our lives have used government to pad their pockets to the behest of the poor and middle class. Right Wing finances tend to lean towards the ultra rich and the poor, no middle class. This is what we are witnessing since the institution of Reagan’s voodoo economic (coined by Bush Sr.). I find it amazing that when a left leaning politician talks about equality and fixing issues that we have in this country that the right says, they hate America, which is the way it was framed on the show yesterday. A true patriot will look at injustice and speak boldly about it; this is how America was created. Our founders hated injustice and patriotically spoke boldly about it and made change.
Our enemies want Obama, because maybe he can rationally deal with them instead of the current method of “JUST BOMB”. The right tries to paint all Islamist as evil, completely foolish and wrong. We need to talk, we need to negotiate. The idea that the 19 hijackers did what they did just because they hate us is a little naive without truly asking “why” they did it. The 9/11 commission report explains why Bin Laden did it, it is blowback for our imperialism on the Saudi Arabian Peninsula. This all can be looked up and verified, it is not a “left” wing MSM lie. It is fact, facts do still exist and often times they conflict with the world of the right wing. This type of attack might have worked 10 or 15 years ago but young evangelicals like myself and many others see that the reasons of the past to vote republican pail in comparison to why we should not. We know that Iraq had nothing to do with defending our liberty as much as it did plunder a nation of it’s Oil. We were sold that Saddam was very close to producing WMD’s, Mushroom clouds, and used our fear of 9/11 to sell it. We realize that the right uses social issues like abortion and does nothing about it, yet they wage war on a country that was no threat to us, none. There is a group of us that looks at the environment, poverty, and social justice as top priorities. We see’s the right has no answer but to consume God’s resources, create tax cuts and cut social services to help the rich and hurt the poor and finally the right wants to imprison many innocent lives, call them enemy combatants and not give them a day in court to defend their innocence. Frankly, I would be hesitant to let them go, because you can bet they will be mad for being locked up for doing nothing wrong then not being allowed to defend yourself. I say all this to make another appeal to those on the right. I am very concerned that the left will dominate all branches this fall, I worry what will happen when that happens. I certainly don’t agree with all stances on the right or all stances on the left. I wish that more of us would come to the center and stop being so divided. Both sides have value, and both sides have ideas that make sense. GOP does not mean God’s Only Party, no matter what Nancy says, I am center, I simply speak the truth when I see it, I don’t defend anyone that I voted for (BTW Bush twice).
