Dr. John F Murray is a licensed clinical and sport performance psychologist in Palm Beach, Florida. People on Dr. John F. Murray’s list were asked to select their 3 favorite books of all time. There were over 1000 responses in the initial round which remained open for two weeks and involved a series of four waves of emails. Then another survey was sent around for the final round of selections over a three day period. Readers were asked to review the initial list of top 78 books and to choose 3 books from that list, but to only retain one of their previous three choices. Out of this response we arrived at the Top 20 Books of All Time, ranked in order of popularity. Since 20 is a very small number, and many top books were close behind that did not make the final list, and even a few write-in choices kept occurring frequently even though they were not part of the original 78, it was decided to list an additional Top 20 in a category called Honorable Mention.People on Dr. John F. Don,
FYI, I would have emailed you privately had I had your address. If you click on my name you’ll find a web site with contact links where you can email me and I’d be happy to take this off-line with you.

Should Paul ask, I would be happy to back off. He has my personal e-mail.
Don S.,
As I look back through the comments on Paul’s blog site, I’m struck by how frequently and voluminously you comment here. Wouldn’t it be kinder of you to start your own blog site (blogger.com is free, after all) than to virtually commandeer Paul’s? It’s one thing to drop a quick line or two, but another to turn it into your own virtual blog. I’m not saying that none of your comments or scripture pastes are welcome, but the volume of them seems to indicate your need for a place that you could refer to with a link instead and carry on your own asides with other commenters over there.
There’s my $0.02.

Your question elicits two additional ones;
1. How many of those who names are written down in the Lambs Book of Life actually read ANY of the translations, let alone the KJV, (aside from a casual read to follow their preacher or ‘minister’)?
2. How many “ministers” actually read any bible prior to their “sermon”?
I read the list of top 98 books and it is actually a quite good list, even if some of the order is out of whack. you all are being a bit harsh … this was not a sample of millions … just over 1000. these are mostly great great books and to kill a mockingbird has often been rated one of the tops books ever … but the Bible still stands proud.
Back to the article…
Your astue observation, fresnel, exposes the total lack of depth in the choices of the readers of the sports psychologist’s blog. I didn’t bother reading the list past the first five. I thought those five said enough about where the list was headed.
And did those who voted for the King James Bible actually ever READ it?
Since we aren’t on the subject of the article…
I don’t think I ever returned your phone call fresnel!! I’m an idiot. I shall call you as soon as the clock reaches a decent hour to do so!
that was beautiful don….
on the article though….
how in the world do Darwin, Lance Armstrong, Dale Carnegie, J.K.Rpwling, and worst of all…. Mitch Albom rank above Asimov and Tolstoy?
and where is Poe?
I think I shall go soak my head for a while now… it hurts.
Even the lost know where to find the words of the Almighty.
Seems like only those, that proclaim to know the author of such, have a debate about it.
Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Of the many positions I was taught as a young Christian, that of the fact I had a perfect, pure, unadulterated book from my heavenly Father, delivered to me by way of the great ‘Paraclete’, has served me well. For through it, my soul has found reason for great comfort, confidence, and has provided me the entrance to know my God.
If it were mine to foolishly attempt to undermine the faith of the saints, I would most certainly start here.
Cloud, Vance, Vick, Greene, Norris, Hudson, Roberson, Lee, Ruckman, Waite,…and too many others to recall were on to something.
Please spare me fellas, this is my post, allow me this (folly).
Once again, I owe so much to the heritage that God has blessed me with.
And finally, my public thanks to a friend, that cared enough about my lost soul to show me the way to the Savior; ~~Patti Sivyer~~
God Bless You Patti
