{"id":1174,"date":"2009-02-15T19:27:21","date_gmt":"2009-02-16T00:27:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.godandculture.com\/blog\/?p=1174"},"modified":"2009-02-15T19:32:59","modified_gmt":"2009-02-16T00:32:59","slug":"rasmussen-public-opinion-flips-on-fairness-doctrine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.godandculture.com\/blog\/rasmussen-public-opinion-flips-on-fairness-doctrine","title":{"rendered":"Rasmussen: Public opinion flips on &#8216;Fairness Doctrine&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The so-called &#8216;fairness doctrine&#8217; would supposedly bring &#8216;balance&#8217; to the airwaves and many Democrats on Capitol Hill have been doing considerable\u00a0saber\u00a0rattling for its revival, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/moe_lane\/2009\/02\/15\/rasmussen-public-opinion-flips-on-fairness-doctrine\/\" target=\"_blank\">including Michigan&#8217;s own junior Senator, Debbie Stabenow<\/a> (whose husband had an ownership stake in the failed Air America Network).<\/p>\n<p>But the more the Dems talk, the more the American public don&#8217;t like what they are hearing apparently. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/general_politics\/47_oppose_fairness_doctrine_but_51_think_congress_likely_to_bring_it_back\" target=\"_blank\">Rasmussen reports a significant decline in the number of those polled who support the revival of the &#8216;fairness doctrine&#8217;:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Just 38% of U.S. voters think that the government should require all radio stations to offer equal amounts of conservative and liberal political commentary.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-seven percent (47%) oppose government-imposed political balance on radio stations, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
