Waitin’ On a Woman

momdadToday’s snow day provided an opportunity for me to do something I haven’t done in months: watch GAC.

The first video up was Brad Paisley’s Waiting on a Woman, with Andy Griffith. I’d never heard the song or seen the video until today.

Andy Griffith has always reminded me of my dad, and seeing him in this video brought back so many memories of my dad in the driveway, or in the church parking lot, or in Sears, or in the grocery store…waiting on my mother.

“I read somewhere statistics show, the man’s always the first to go.”

Dad died five years ago this past September. Mom turned 80 last July. Follow this link to watch the video to the end and you’ll know why I’m crying.

  1. Paul,

Thanks for a great post and a great picture of your Mom and Dad. Just like me, you have a great legacy in your parents. I have been blessed greatly because of our friendship and the friendship I have with your whole family. I look forward to the day when we will be reunited with our Dads and we can spend all of eternity worshiping the Lord together face to face. In the meantime, I’m sure my Dad is talking your Dad’s ear off! (Some things never change!) Blessings and lots of love to you and all of your family. Make sure especially to hug your Mom for me!

  2. I trust you will have a wonderful time with all your family this season Paul.
Seeing this photo again refreshed many cherished memories of the days past.

    Thanks

    Don

  3. That is so sweet! Reminds me of a story about my sweet DH…Yep, always got a story…

We were at the Mall, he was waiting outside as I went into Crabtree & Evelyn…In a few minuets the sales clerk comes up and says don’t look up,,,there is a guy outside that is leering in the window at you…I will call security if you like…Of course I looked up anyway and said…”That just my DH he’s afraid I’m going to buy something…”
