Mark Steyn created a bit of a backlash with comments he made about the City of Detroit while guest hosting the Rush Limbaugh radio program on Monday, February 7, 2011.

I was glad to hear him explain his harsh remarks from the Limbaugh program. All in all, he should realize that those of us who grew up in(and still live in) the shadow of this formerly great city desperately want to see the city turned around. I am almost 60 yrs. old when I was in my youth you could still go downtown for an exciting day of shopping, etc. Even though at my age I probably will not see a total restoration I would love to be able to observe the city heading in that direction before I die. Like you, I wish some of these critics would “light a candle instead of cursing the darkness” and spend some time outlining how to get rid of the liberal policies that have so devastated this city. In the meantime, it was good to see a well-done commercial spotlighting our town and managing to do so in a positive light, the negative we can always depend on. Thanks for having him on.
