(Reuters) – A Roman Catholic priest who unleashed a torrent of expletives and racist abuse against skateboarders outside his Australian cathedral, only to have the outburst filmed and placed on YouTube, has been put on leave.The Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron, the dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Australia’s second biggest city, Melbourne, was videotaped swearing at and abusing a group of teenagers using the cathedral grounds as a skate park.

    I don’t hate the Catholic Church. I hate the false teaching which permeates the Catholic Church. The video illustrates the disconnect between the profession many Catholics make and the lack of distinctive lives they live in the world. The Church fails to translate its teaching into changed lives because they point their people to their own good works rather than to the finished work of Jesus Christ.

    Please show me a sample of the ‘countless videos of other people being bad representatives of their faiths.’

  2. That is absolutely wrong for that priest to have done that. Sadly his fallen human nature is quite evident here as all humans have times of anger. Anger can be like flood gates and at times you can get caught up and lose to the devil. Life is a constant spiritual battle.
    However, there are plenty of other videos on youtube with people angry, cussing and fighting. You chose this one out of hate. You hate the Catholic Church. Monsignor Baron is being a bad representative for the Church in this case. There are countless videos of other people being bad representatives of their faiths that you choose not to display. I’m sure most every Calvary Baptist would be quite offended and angry if someone were disrespecting your place of worship. His anger is understandable, his reaction was completely wrong. We should all pray he becomes a more humble man.

    Not sure this discourse was appropriate for this forum, however with that being said, this certainly is not what I envision when I dwell upon the command to be “filled with the Spirit”. There is a filling of “a” spirit here, but it is not The Holy Spirit, by any stretch of the imagination.

    Where did he learn such a command of the art of communication?
