You are becoming the President. You are not becoming our master, our ruler, our overseer, or our king. When you take office, I will be one of 300 million Americans who will become your employer.
In spite of, or possibly because of some of the information coming out in the media, I would like to make you aware of a few things I’m not sure you understand.
For starters, with only 53% of the vote, you do not have a mandate to inflict wholesale changes on the form of government we now enjoy. I would like you to know that I have not lived for over 56 years in a free and open society only to see those God-given freedoms taken away. I am not now, nor ever will be, a ward of the State; I am a free man.
I did not, nor will I work to produce wealth only to see you confiscate it in the name of “fairness” and “redistribution.”
I did not go through training classes and licensing to own a firearm only to see you send out minions to take it away from me.
I did not produce and raise three sons only to see them live as serfs under an Obama regime.
Finally, I did not serve six years in the United States Navy to protect this Nation and its Constitution only to see you assume office and trash everything we have stood for for over two centuries.
So, I want you to know, Mr. President-elect, that if you honor our Constitution in the Spirit and Letter in which it was written, including and especially the First and Second Amendments, I will be your staunchest supporter.
However, if, as I expect you will, you move to eliminate political speech with which you disagree, by re-instituting the Fairness Doctrine, or other measures that destroy conservative and Christian talk radio;
If you interfere with the basic right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for the purposes of self defense as well as sport;
If you deploy a “domestic army” to spy on us, regulate us or otherwise interfere with our God-given rights;
Or, if you enact draconian tax laws that destroy the Engine of small business that creates the majority of jobs in America:
Then, you will have me and over 58 million, (I suspect more) Americans to answer to.
So, Godspeed, Mr. Obama in your endeavors as our 44th president.
I pray that after you place your hand on the Holy Bible, raise your right hand to God, and swear to “preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic” that you will do just that.
That you will not become one of those “domestic enemies” of our Constitution, and realize the gravity of the Office you have taken on.
Yes, the Constitution is flawed, but only inasmuch as it was written by Men. You would be hard pressed, though, to find more inspired and inspiring prose outside of Holy Scripture.
My prayer for you is that you will be humbled by the knowledge that you stand on the shoulders of giants, who have kept this nation free and prosperous for over 232 years.
President-elect Obama, may you rely on God to light your path.

No government will ever be the “salvation” of its people.
Up until the inception of the United States, govenments only grudgingly gave their citizens rights, and then, only because they were forced to. Remember King John and the Magna Carta? He signed at the points of several swords.
That being said, the U.S. Gonernment up until now has recognized “God-given Rights”, and has honored the spirit of the Constitution better than any other nation in the world. But still, we do not look to our government for our salvation.
I only acknowledge our government as Paul did in his ordeal as a minister and evangelist, and as a Roman citizen. Being a Roman citizen did not prevent his shipwreks, or the various beatings he received over his career. In the end, it did nothing to prevent his execution as an enemy of the State. But he was able to insist on his Rights as a Roman citizen before Felix and Cornelius, and demand a trial before the Emporer.
That is all I ever want. We have Christians among our Founders, and we have the Pilgrims and Puritans in our History to show what religious tolerance is like.
Your views on George W. Bush are shared by many, however, he is no longer our problem, just as Bill Clinton is no longer our “pain”.
Where I believe you are being shortsighted is in your willingness to place all of the blame for our current economic mess on Bush.
An openminded, objective person would realize that Bush or his administration could not have gotten us into this trouble all by themselves.
The problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, for example were authored in part by Democratic Congressmen and Senators including
Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer and others, who loosened lending standards to allow those who could not pay back loans to get them anyway.
Then ,like the good Liberals they are, they have successfully managed to hang the blame on Bush and “deregulation”.
But Liberals always “project”, and they frequently do not live in the real world, so their lies and obfuscations do not register with them.
If you want to continue to be shortsighted and unrealistic, continue in the direction you are going.
Meanwhile, as Christians, we are called upon to love our enemies. I will wait, but not hold my breath, for you to show some love for George W. Bush, a man you do not even know.
Hey Bryce, I love the debate but I ask one favor, let’s not make the mistake that many seem to make here in that they assume the other side is ignorant of the knowledge they possess. For example you mentioned that you have been looking into the New World Order for 20 years now. And you made the following comment “You really should get out more, Jeff, there’s a Big World out there.” This statement assumes that I am ignorant of special info that you have. I am fully aware of the New World order movement in fact I have read The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow by Constance Cumbey, Brotherhood of Darkness by Stanley Montieth and I used to subscribe to World Affair Brief by Joel Skousen, I even listened to GNC, Alex Jones’ radio network. So I am fully aware of that movement which ultimately has it’s roots in the Jon Birch Society. I am also aware of the “devil is behind every corner” attitude of the Bircher’s, but I have witnessed many times how wrong they are on many topics. Also, I supported Ron Paul in the primaries and Chuck Baldwin for much of the general election. My Liberal/Progressive leanings are somewhat new and they are based on more recent stuff that I have been reading and much of it from Progressive radio shows like the Thom Hartmenn show. My views are not in stone, I tend to be one that likes to hash out ideas and positions, especially if it is a new way of thought for me.
I think we are closer than apart on some issues. I do think there is a ruling class of folks in this country that transcend Republican v Democrat. I think Bush and his close allies, along with Clinton and their allies are part of this ruling class. I am not saying the Democrats are correct and the Republicans are wrong. I am talking about ideas, I look at policies and ask if it is a good idea or not, and it is good for the entire society or not. For example, I have been in the evangelical community for a long time, I have been told that public schools are awful. Let’s discount the issues with public schooling and ask what is fair for all. What if we did away with public schools altogether? The end results would be mass class warfare, we would have private schools run but folks with private interests. Money would be the key factor in who gets an education and who doesn’t. The public school system is an example of everyone chipping in for (hopefully) the betterment of society. It is not a perfect system but the alternative is much worse. I am a firm believer that education and a living wage are the best crime deterants a society can have. Statitstics back me up, societies in europe where free college education is offered have a stronger middle class and crime and other social ills like divorce and drug use are much less than other societies, like the US. Regardless of what Paul says, sin is not the only issue, if that were the case then our christian subculture would be a beacon of paradise. It is not, we mirror the world in all social issues.
I am starting to buy the notion that government can do things to help people, this can only be done when government is run properly. I am sure much of my ideas are just a pipe dream but I do think the ideas are solid.
Finally, do I think that Obama is the “savior”, of course not, I have stated several times on this blog that I was very concerned with a Dem controlled House, Senate and White House. I am encouraged atleast at what I hear Obama saying regarding our Foreign Policy, especially the usage of torture. Government is not the enemy although it can be, just like big business is not the enemy even though it can be. Restraints need to be put on both, which is why I encourage everyone to be engaged in government and not just once every 4 years. This stuff has a real impact on our lives.
I am familiar with George Soros, not so with John Galt, I will take a look ad see what I find though.
I will tell you this; GWB has been the worst president in American history, then destruction that he has wrought on this nation we are only beginning to feel. All under the false assumption of free markets and getting government out of our lives. I feel like I live in an orwellian society when I speak to my friends who say that “Bush has done a few things I disagree with but over all I think he did a decent job”. Many of my circle don’t pay attention and only listen to “trusted” sources of information, FoxNews is usually a common thread.
Side topic but related: My church is going through Focus on the Families The Truth Project and the topic last week was the issue of The State and how it effects us. I saw right through as “free market” economics = God’s economics. Anyway, afterwards the pastors said we all need to be praying that Obama opens his heart to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and that President Bush, when they meet helped lead him to the Lord. My wife and I were visible distraught over this, the idea that someone is so duped to think that GWB is a “Christian” at this point in his tenure is truly someone that has not been paying attention, and completely ignorant. I can’t judge anyone’s heart but I can see fruit, and Bush’s fruit is rotten, nasty and disgusting. My grandchildren wil be paying for his actions and that is something that doesn’t sit well with me at all.

However, I must reject your premise that Conservatives embrace big business and Liberals don’t. For over 21 months, the biggest “business” in this country was the election campaigns of Congress and the presidency, and Barack Obama had a $650 million piece of it, the largest campaign war chest in the history of the world.
Plus, a couple of factoids:
The top 30 corporations in the US employ a little over 9 million people. In contrast, an organization that produces NO wealth, but consumes 21% of GDP, the Federal Government, employs over 13 million. State, County and Local governments add 15 million more.
When Exxon Mobil produced the “obscene” profits of $14.3 billion in one fiscal quarter, the Federal Government received $34 billion in taxes.
Next: I reject your premise that George W. Bush is anybody’s Consevative.
Sure, he has a few positions that agree with mine. But he is also the impetus for what could become the biggest Federal spending program we’ve ever seen, Prescription Drugs, otherwise known as “Medicare Part D” .As I recall, Medicare is a Liberal democrat program.
Additionally, he is being excoriated by Teachers Unions and others for “No Child Left Behind”, which he signed, but, which everyone forgets was written by Ted Kennedy!
Leaving the southern border wide open to anyone and his brother, sister, mother, uncle, (you get the picture) is far from conservative, it is insanity!
While claiming to be a “born-again Christian’, (which no one can contest, save God), he has maintained his silence in the Yale secret society “Skull and Bones”, an integral part of the Illuminati and New World Order. He is the third generation from his family to be chosen by this One World Government inspired, Luciferian organization.

However, I think a very minor, but historically important, correction is in order: BHO will join 42 (not 43) other men in this important executive position. He will lead (or rule 🙂 ) the 44th administration, but he will be the 43rd man.

The federal government shouldn’t put in conditions that rob the middle class and poor class in favor of the rich all in the false assumption of “less government”. These people that are making all this money are scamming the system because they have the means “lawyers” etc to do it. Who is going to look out for the little guy? If you study the gilded age from 1880 to just before the great depression the conditions were very similar to what we have now. When folks of wealth are abusing the system someone has to police these actions because someone ultimately pays the price, that in all cases is the poor and middle class. Less taxes is an Orwellian term for helping the rich. Obama wants to let the Bush tax cuts expire and the net results will be taxing net income (not gross) above $250000 36 to 39 %, none of us on this board is close to that, yet many don’t want him to do it. Why? very RICH folks tell us it will hurt us.
Regarding the abuse of the fed, all this has happened under the under the watch of movement conservatism.

Say goodbye to libraries, schools, fire depts, police depts. All of it will be privitized and this scares me more than anything. The “haves” will get all the goods and the rest of us will have to fend for the scraps. All in the name of “less government”

Ensuring and enshrining “Fairness” has never been the function of the Federal Government. Providing for the Common Defense and Promoting the General Welfare are. Not the other way around.
And, while there have been some excesses in compensation, bonuses and perks for hedge fund managers, the purpose of Tax Policy is not to “punish” financial success and industry, nor reward people for sloth, or for having the propensity for producing large numbers of out of wedlock children.
The success or failure of corporate moguls does nothing to take away your opportunity to be productive and generate wealth for you and your family. When you start playing with words like “fairness” in “redistribution”. you have to ask the next question, “Who decides what is “fair”, and what is the basis for their determination?
As far as guns…Mr. Obama has on several occasions stated his distaste for private gun ownership of any kind. No less a light than Professor John Lott, who used to teach at the University of Illinois-Chicago when Obama was there said he got the distinct impression that Obama would take all guns out of private hands if he ever got the chance.
As we watch the Congress at this moment, it is in the process of spending money we do not have, the interest on which our great grandchildren will never be able to repay. The Federal Reseve has printer over TWO TRILLION dollars in currency in just the last 13 months. Once this currency begins to flood the marketplace, you will see prices for everything increase exponentially. At that point, Jeff, you will kick yourself for not becoming one of those well paid hedge fund managers
Redistribution of wealth: when will any of you understand that this is a loaded term. Under the Bush administration and ever since the Reagan years that redistribution has gone unfairly to the top .5 percent in this country. The normal person has no wealth. If we lost our jobs how long could we live off of our “wealth”. WE HAVE NONE. Let me ask you? is it OK for hedge fund managers who make upwards of 1 billion dollars a year to only pay 15% tax? That’s right, because of Bush’s tax cuts they are able to do this. It is unfair and that person’s taxes need to equal what everyone else pays. I have come to realize that in this world you either have government state or a corporate state. Someone needs to take care of the well being of society, Government is for “we the people”, Corporations are for “we the dollar”. Taxes sound like a bad thing but once you understand that needed services can be provided to all at a cheaper price than a corporation can deliver then you realize that taxes can be a good thing.
Regarding the constitution: Unlike Bush, Obama actually studied it and became a lawyer of it. He will actually adhere to it, unlike Bush did, who has been accused of calling it a G – D peice of paper. His actions backed up that centiment.
Regarding Guns: Let me ask? Is it OK for citizens to owner semi automatic assault rifles? I listen to liberal talk radio, that is the crux of the argument. Licensed hand guns and rifles will always be OK for hunting but no citizen should be allowed a death weapon like an assult rifle.
That is the perspective from a leaning liberal, Yes, Paul you can legitimately call me a lib, at least from a financial stand point.

I have been criticized for my belief in the Apocolypse, —my christian views on the signs make me appear to the non-believers and some believers as insanity for lack of a better word. I wonder if there will be anything we, as Americans who aren’t impressed with Obama, (or under his spell, if you will…) will be able to do in the event that he becomes the next big comunist, with many American’s Idolizing him as if he himself were the Mesiah….

Forgive the sarcasm, I had to get that out there as I’ve faced it from virtually all Obama supporters that I know and I am sure we will see it here as well. Mr. Johnston, well written and you can believe you have articulated the sentiments of tens of millions of Americans very well.
